Presiding Justice Garry Said She Wants to Become Chief Judge—Not Associate Judge—on High Court–ALM Law.com

Appellate Division, Third Department Presiding Justice Elizabeth Garry said she solely wants to be considered for chief judge.

Garry answered that question as the New York Assembly considers a proposal that would allow the governor to pick one of three sitting New York Court of Appeals judges for the vacant chief judge post, and then refer to the same shortlist that Garry is on to replace the associate judgeship.

 

“I am currently engaged in management and administration and I really enjoy that aspect,” Garry said of being one of four presiding justices who, along with the chief judge form the state judicial system’s administrative board.
