NYSBA is seeking a few good volunteers to join our Pro Bono Network. Our first project is helping unemployed New Yorkers with denied unemployment insurance claims.

Volunteer attorneys will help individuals appeal unemployment insurance claim denials and potentially apply for other forms of Unemployment Relief.

You will receive a welcome email from Clio shortly after signing up to volunteer at the link above.  Clio is a legal tech provider and has partnered with NYSBA to onboard, train, and match volunteers with persons needing help with unemployment insurance denials.  To ensure efficiency and ease, pro bono attorneys will be given free access to Clio’s secure case management software to manage the appeal process.  Once onboarded into Clio, you will be able to receive referrals and will choose whether or not to accept the case within Clio. If you do not accept the case, then the matter will be reassigned to another attorney to ensure we can match those in need as quickly as possible. You will always choose whether or not to accept the case.

An online community has been created for volunteers with useful links, resources, materials, and training videos.  Volunteers are encouraged to use this online community to share ideas and ask questions.  Malpractice insurance coverage is provided for volunteer attorneys.
